A Fun Filled 20th Anniversary Tournament for Alex Hall
The Alex Hall Memorial Tournament held its 20th annual event this year. The tournament began in 2004 in memory of Manchester Softball League player Alex Hall. All profits go to The Christie Cancer Appeal Fund.
This year saw Red, Green, Blue and Yellow teams play in colour themed fancy dress. Stand out costumes featured a Deliveroo courier, ketchup bottle, two crocodiles, Hulk Hogan and several bananas. There is a traditional picnic break half way, with colour themed spreads, including home made Thai green curry, quiche, lemon tart, cake pops, blueberry cake, a charcuterie board and Czech red currant crumble cake.
After the break Red and Blue teams reached the final with the Red team emerging victorious to be crowned 2024 champions.
Raffle prizes, in fact, this year were plentiful thanks to the hard work of Gina Amos. Prizes on offer range include:
- Etihad Stadium tour;
- Softball bats;
- a ferry trip;
- Vouchers for Base Bar;
- Everton FC memorabilia and;
- Champagne.
Joint organiser Vicky Green said,
“[We are] delighted that the event was successful with over £2,000 raised for The Christie. The exact amount we raise will be published soon once all payments have been checked. Thanks to everyone who supported us.”
