Fall Annual General Meeting Set for 28 October

Just as it says on the tin, the 2026 Fall Annual General Meeting has been officially scheduled for Wednesday 28 October. Many will know the site: Wythenshawe Cricket Club, where we’ve conducted previous AGMs, gotten together for occasional postgame libations, and laid out the business, the goals, and upcoming plans of the league for everyone.

This time around, we’ll be starting at 7.30pm, so amble up to the bar early so we can get started and finish up. We’d appreciate it especially if each team had a representative there.

SOME OPENINGS TO FILL

We often say that the MSL Executive Committee is yours, and this is a chance for you to make your contribution. In fact, we enter the 2026-27 offseason with some positions to fill. Jai Bhagdev, who did a wonderful job organising the annual End of Season Ball (more on that in the future) as Events Officer, is stepping down. So: who’s ready to top that performance?

Dan Strayer, the Communications Officer since later 2024, is relinquishing the role but remaining in the background in a role he calls “perpetually frustrated website guy” (inevitably fixing the game sheet and score sheet forms he introduced this year). Former league CO Abbie de Zwart is stepping forward again to run for the opening. Would you like to throw your hat in the ring?

Even with these declared openings, anybody is welcome to run for any position – Safeguarding, Fixtures, Recruitment, Tournaments – there’s honestly no way we can’t take advantage of what you bring to the table. Or, they can volunteer in a myriad of ways, be it within these individual departments or others.

“We would like to see as many of the members of the league here please. Just once a year to share your views and make our league even better,” says Luis Arrevillagas, Head of the Executive Committee.

“You don’t have to be a captain, just come down meet people from other teams and share your views with the rest.

“You may have some skills which could help our league. Chairs and tables will be provided, you will need to buy your own drinks. The exec will provide the entertainment.”
