New Artificial Turf On Parrs Wood Pitches

Two pitches at our Parrs Wood site have new artificial turf installed. The work, with help from funding by BaseballSoftballUK’s Facilities Fund, includes a stone and sand base with an artificial turf top layer on the batting box areas for pitches 6 & 7. The new turf will prevent a rut forming during the season’s use, which turns into a mud pool after rain.

Half of the funding was provided by BaseballSoftballUK’s Facilities Fund with North West Development Manager Luis Arrevillagas guiding the league through the application process.. As part of their Two Sports One Ambition plan launched in 2020, the Facilities Fund can grant up to £5,000 in funding (matched by the recipient) to a not-for-profit club, league or association in the UK officially registered to the BaseballSoftballUK Development Charter.
