Manchester youngsters play first-ever competitive softball game

Excitement was high for the 7-to-11 year old children in BSUK’s Greater Manchester baseball/softball starter programme on Sunday 28 February as they played their first ever indoor game at the Powerleague Soccerdome in Trafford.

The game pitted the Urmston Nippers against the Stockport Fire Kids, and as much batting and fielding as possible was crammed into the 45-minute contest. When everyone from the first team had batted, the teams switched. Designated parents were identified as suitable pitchers and pitched to their own teams.

The atmosphere was electric, with spectators (mostly family members) cheering at every at-bat and catch.
